Events such as this only goes to reinforce my negative attitude towards organized religion.

Let it be said that I take no issue what so every with faith. Rather the opposite, I believe in every one’s right to the faith of their choice, or none at all. Organized religion however, seems more of a business these days to me, or to some extremes, a cult.

Why do religious groups revel in their conformity?

You want to show me a progressive organization? Show me how inclusive you can be, how you reach out to your community beyond the people who pay their yearly dues and share your beliefs. Preach to be kind to thy neighbor by being kinder to thy neighbor, no matter where they come from.

Open your doors, don’t close them.

Then maybe, just maybe, I’ll change my mind about organized religion.

Just in case my position is unclear, if someone does that they automatically lose their argument, no matter how good or bad it is. If he can't handle the fact that they have different views, and possibly any harassment that might have occurred during the production, then he pretty much fails as a journalist. You can't investigate difficult subjects and expect your views to be the only ones heard.

I'm not in favour of scientology, just to be clear, I'm just against this "journalist".

Is it just me or have they forgotten how to report without huge excesses of emotive language. Personally it doesn't work on me anymore because they just go way over the top.

I also like the fact that our "impartial" news reporting outlets assume that Christianity is The One True Faith. What if god likes people like Saddam? Or if (s)he doesn't care about such petty human affairs? What if there isn't a hell to go to? Or if the criteria for entry are completely different? What if hell isn't a place of eternal damnation and suffering? What if there isn't a heaven/hell distinction and there is just one place where the dead hang out? What if our souls continue to inhabit this plane of existence rather than passing on? What if god's plan just didn't include anywhere for our souls to go after our death? What if we get reincarnated?

And when you come down to it, what if there is no magical (wo)man in the sky and when we die we simply stop existing?
